JAY & 2POINT9 SCOOPS BMI AWARD

UK BMI awards - London October 7th 2008

Jay Sean was the recipient of a BMI award for a song he wrote with Cutfather and Joe at Tuesday nights black-tie Gala at the Dorchester Hotel in London, England.

The song 'Deal With It' was written for Disney artist Corbin Bleu (who appeared in the hit Disney movie 'High School Musical'). Reaching over 120,000 radio plays in America, the track was one of the most played songs on American Radio, written by a European songwriter.

Artists such as Ne-Yo, James Blunt, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce and Kanye West also scooped awards.

Next to such songwriting luminaries as Cut Father and Joe (who have
previously penned tracks for Brandy, Kylie Minogue & N-Sync), Jay enjoyed a star studded evening with Lilly Allen, Red One and StarGate.

After the ceremony Jay was asked what it meant for him to win.

"I have a lot of respect for songwriters and producers as they are the people behind the songs we all love, but who yet often go unnoticed. The BMI awards however recognizes these people. Therefore to be given such a prestigious award was a huge honor and one of my biggest career highlights to date. It was loads of fun and the lack of long acceptance speeches made it even better!"
